Memorable Senior Moments

of Dianna L. Brumfield

Welcome to the website of

Dianna L. Brumfield

About five years ago, I started writing more seriously and after trying various voices, finally found my own. I tried sounding philosophical, but that was not the real me. For a while, I focused on psychological themes, but, you guessed it, that didn’t work for me either. Then one night, I decided to just be real, and I let my tickle bone lead me into a tale about my struggles with dealing with cherries from my backyard tree. While reading the piece to my writing group, I began noticing  a snicker here, a chuckle there, and before I knew it, I had found my voice.

In other words, I express myself in mildly amusing stories about the struggles of a senior meandering through the challenges of maturity. The topics I found myself covering were: semi-retirement, technophobia, joys and struggles  of being a grandparent, gardening, male/female communication, and more.

Please feel free to join me in this adventure. It’s likely to be a wild ride, but we’ll keep each other company.

Coming Out of Hiding

Since early childhood, I have dealt with shyness. For whatever reason, I did not feel comfortable in social situations. I guess that would label me a life-long introvert. Anyway, it was difficult for me to…
