Memorable Senior Moments

Fall Meditations

img_0134Autumn Memories for You:

My garden is complete with the advent of fall. The task of winterizing  begins. I rake-up multicolored maple leaves with the warm autumn sun beating down on my shoulders. It gives me a feeling of closure and contentment–another growing season has ended.
However, I take one last look at the vibrant scenery around me before my interests turn indoors. An unforgettable fall landscape delights my soul. A giant red maple tree presents a glowing curtain as its crimson leaves pick up the afternoon light, appearing almost like a church’s stained glass window. Other yards with their deep layers of golden foliage on the ground, invite children to dive into their midst, scattering each carefully formed mound.
The crows gather into large congregations carrying out their noisy caucuses, discussing winter preparations. Overhead, flocks of migrating geese can be heard with instructions being honked by their crew leader. Fat majestic wild turkeys stroll along into the street, where they stop traffic with their royal parade.
img_0274Besides my feathered friends, fall creates endless activities in the squirrel population. They keep busy as they hop and search from one delightful discovery to another, as they collect their winter stores. Their coats are thick and furry, a sure sign of a colder weather’s approach. Soon freezing winds will swoop in and all these autumn scenes will pass.

God’s creation still mystifies me when a look out the window provides a view of crystals sparkling on the mounds of fluffy snow. Birds have either traveled to warmer climes or found shelter where they can wait out winter’s spell. Squirrels will snooze with fuzzy tails curved around their warm little bodies until they hear the call of spring.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Each season provides its own special beauty to help us relate to our artistic Creator.
